The formation of the Conservancy comes after 40 years of work in Wildlife preservation by the Hunt family at their Mount Kenya Game Ranch in the foothills of Mount Kenya.
Since the death of co-founder William Holden in 1981 The conservation activities of the Mount Kenya Game Ranch have been privately funded entirely by the Hunt family.
To ensure the significant conservation projects will be carried on in perpetuity The Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy - a non profit organization dedicated to preserving vanishing and endangered species - was formed.
It is a Kenyan trust established under Kenyan laws and will take over the responsibilities of operating the Mount Kenya Game Ranch work in wildlife preservation. It will continue to work in practical wildlife Education with The Wildlife Education Center.
